Jake Shimabukuro

Jake Shimabukuro, a Hawaiian-born virtuoso, has become renowned worldwide for his fast and intricate finger work on the ukulele. His music seamlessly blends elements of jazz, blues, funk, rock, bluegrass, classical, folk, and flamenco. This winter, Jake returns to The Field Trip Series with Peace, Love, Ukulele! — a special concert infused with the spirit of the season. Jake’s journey began at the tender age of four, when he first cradled a ukulele. Little did he know that this encounter would shape his destiny. Drawing comparisons to musical legends like Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis, Jake has pushed the boundaries of what’s possible with this tiny four-string instrument.

“In a word, WOW! I can’t believe the sound this man gets out of an ukulele. And the energy he plays with. It was simply an amazing performance from start to finish. Whether the song was up-tempo or slow and subtle, he poured emotion out of his ukulele.”
