Ivan Lins’ 80th Birthday TributeFeaturing Ivan Lins, Dave Grusin, Jane Monheit, and Lee Ritenour
To celebrate the 80th birthday of one of the best-known musical artists of Brazil, singer/songwriter Ivan Lins, L.A.’s 40-piece Pacific Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Chris Walden, is presenting a tribute concert featuring guest artists Dave Grusin, Lee Ritenour, Jane Monheit, and Ivan Lins himself, as well as performances by a few surprise guests.
Ivan Lins, Dave Grusin, and Lee Ritenour share a remarkable musical history. In 1985, these three legendary artists collaborated on the acclaimed album Harlequin, released through GRP Records. The album earned the 1986 GRAMMY® Award for Best Arrangement on an Instrumental and climbed to No. 2 on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz chart.
Fresh off a major European and Asian tour, these jazz icons will come together for a very special performance in Palm Desert. Don’t miss this extraordinary event on January 19—their only joint appearance in the United States.
Dave Grusin won an Academy Award for his soundtrack for The Milagro Beanfield War and has received 10 GRAMMY-Awards. His extensive filmography of more than 100 feature films, includes Three Days of the Condor, Absence of Malice, Tootsie, The Firm, and Random Hearts. He also has several featured tracks on the soundtrack of The Graduate.
